When working part-time, please be aware of your responsibilities as a student at KUAS and put your studies first. First-year students are advised to be especially careful during their first semester, when they are just settling into university life, as too much work can easily interfere with studies. International students with "Student" residence status who want to work part time must apply for and receive “permission to engage in activity other than that permitted under the status of residence previously granted” 【資格外活動許可】 from the Immigration Bureau. For more information, speak to the staff at the International Office. Part-time Job Referral System You can view job information on the "Student Part-time Job Information Network" using the "KUAS Part-time Job Introduction System". After initial registration from a computer on campus, you will be able to view and apply for jobs from your cell phone or home computer. The University has outsourced the operation of the Student Part-time Job Information Network website to Nasic Support Co. ◆Initial Account Registration(Japanese) Restrictions on Occupations The KUAS bulletin board and referral system both restrict jobs and duties that are not appropriate for university students to engage in. If you wish to take a part-time job other than those recommended by the university, such as through a part-time job information magazine, please be sure to pay careful attention to the type of work and working hours. Examples of duties restricted by the university referral system: shifts after 10:00 p.m., duties involving driving, bartending, etc. [Points to be careful about when looking for a part-time job] Verify the job description, work location, and meeting place. Check of starting and ending times, rest periods, holidays, vacations, and other conditions. Check the information about wages (amount, payment date, payment method). If you are on an hourly contract, you will not normally be paid for your break time. Check what you are supposed to wear and what you need to bring. Part-time jobs are advertised in various ways, such as in job magazines, by direct mail, and on street postings. However, in exchange for high wages, some of these part-time jobs include dangerous work, jobs that are not suitable for students, and unprofitable working conditions, leading to problems such as non-payment of wages. Particularly in the field of private tutoring, there have been many cases of malicious companies not paying wages, and large penalties for quitting in the middle of a contract. In addition, there have been cases of scams posing as part-time jobs (e.g., making victims pay a registration fee but not actually letting them work), so please be very careful when applying. Please confirm the above precautions when applying for employment. For long-term part-time employment, please sign an employment contract.
