After careful reviewing process and discussion, former two Institutes have been merged into one that focuses bioscience and bioengineering research fields. Show the field Bioenergy We are developing new energy creation technologies such as the synthesis of artificial compounds using microorganisms and the high-efficiency optimization of underground microbial energy metabolism. Show the field Health Care We are developing substance production technologies that contribute to health enhancement, such as the high-functionalization of biomolecules, modification of microbial metabolic functions, and production of functional components using plants. Show the field Bioproduction We analyze microbial and plant resources using molecular biology, biology, and information science techniques, and apply them to high-functioning and highly efficient substance production. Show the field Primary Industry We are developing various technologies to support primary industries, including crop functionalization, suppression of plant diseases using microorganisms, aquaculture technologies focusing on inter-species interactions, and freezing techniques utilizing bio-derived antifreeze proteins.
