Intercultural Collaboration Support Technology 研究概要 Supporting Intercultural Collaboration with Machine Translation and Intelligent Agent For society and organizations, diversity provides vast benefits, because it has a substantialimpact on innovativeness. Cultural difference, which is the diversity of cultural background,could lead to a wider variety of ideas, and one or some of those diverse ideas could lead to apromising design or solution. Even though diversity has significant advantages, it also comeswith difficulties in collaboration. With different cultural and language backgrounds, communication and collaboration become challenging. It is crucial to distribute the chance ofcommunication, regardless of their cultural or language background, to maximize the benefitof diversity. Understanding cultural differences is also essential to avoid misunderstanding incommunication.My research goal is to design a support system that will lower the misunderstanding andconflicts in intercultural collaboration and multilingual communication. Together with myprofessors and collaborators, we conducted a field study and interviews to understand the real-world problems in intercultural collaboration. This will lead to unity and people will have a better understanding of different cultures, hopefully with less or none racial hatred.
